Godspeed Brewery x 5e Baron x Brasserie du Bas-Canada Furusato Hazy Pale Ale

Furusato (ふるさと - Japanese for Hometown)

Bursting out of the glass with notes of juicy mango, guava and pineapple, with a squeeze of orange served on a silky smooth cloud of oats and pilsner malt. 

During a visit back to his hometown of Gatineau, Godspeed founder Luc Lafontaine made a visit to an old friend at 5e Baron. The inevitable collaboration talks started and they hit up their pals and fellow Gatineau brewers and legendary haze producers - Brasserie du Bas-Canada. After some discussion, the choice became ironically clear, to make some haze at Godspeed – for the first time.

For this project they sourced Quebec grown El Dorado hops from Houblon Lupuline, who hold the exclusive rights to grow this variety in Canada and finished it off with the ever-popular Citra hops. They then utilized a special blend of lager and ale yeasts, courtesy of Fermentis. These strains are capable of transforming compounds in the hops by unlocking bound thiols and then enhancing them through biotransformation during active fermentation. This boosts these hop compounds and maximizes tropical and citrus fruit aromas.
