An early and warm spring led to a uniform and rapid flowering, which was overall successful despite a few frost episodes in late April. The summer was marked by intense heatwaves and severe droughts. As a result, the grapes were small but very concentrated, rich in sugar and phenolic compounds. Some much-needed rain in August, just before the harvest, helped restart the ripening process and balance sugar and acidity levels.
